Volunteer Experience

I worked/volunteered as a social media ambassador for TRU World from January 2025-December 2025. Shooting videos and making content and just being creative has always been my dream. When I was younger, I would make videos of our mini family vacations, birthday video albums, and many random funny videos of my friends and family. I also loved hosting and organizing events, trying new foods and doing new things, and getting to meet and talk with new people. Being an SMA gave me the opportunity to do all of that. We worked in a small group of 4-6 people who were from various parts of the world, with different personalities and cultural backgrounds, but had one thing in common: loved being creative. We would come together to contribute and share ideas on how to promote events and activities happening on campus and in the community through videos, pictures, and events. We talked about our cultures, languages and customs. We even shared some of our stories through TRU World’s Instagram posts. I loved being an SMA to the point where people I meet for the first time would recognize me and ask “You’re the girl from TRU World’s Instagram right?” which usually led to making new friends and sharing our stories. I think global competency is being able to relate and interact with people regardless of who they are and where they’re from. It’s being able to share your story while also being willing hear and be interested in other’s stories. It’s about creating connections and maintaining them. I believe this volunteer experience has enabled me to do that.
